There are four themes behind
Creative Soul Weekend.

You could call them the "holy trinity" of being a creative woman
- except there are four of them ;)

HOW DID THIS GET STARTED?

Leah and Emily met in the Fall of 2014 in St. Peter's, but really they met on the Internet earlier that year when Leah was planning a retreat for female graphic designers on Cape Breton Island. They spent that retreat weekend together at the Bras d'Or Lakes Inn, along with their friend Aleena, doing yoga, taking hikes, talking about design, sharing favourite bloggers and life coaches, and dreaming of what this retreat could be in the future. Well, here you have it! The Creative Soul Weekend.

Leah's Story

Leah Noble is a graphic designer and writer and new mom. She grew up in the woods of Baddeck Bay and loves being out in nature, eating local food, and getting to know other creatives. The ocean and a house full of women is a kind of magic to her. She believes that by gathering with other women, we create sacred space to share our stories, laugh at life, process challenges, and move forward in our creative lives. She was the writer behind the blog Dream Big Cape Breton, and she has organized and co-coordinated events such as the Cabot Trail Writers Festival, an International Women's Day gathering in Baddeck, and the Friendsday Wednesday dinner parties of 2011. She works for the Horizon Achievement Centre as a job coach and trainer.

Emily's Story

Emily Rankin is a graphic designer, auntie and creative spirit who loves truck camping, farmer's markets, live music, and curling up with a good book. She grew up in Port Hawkesbury and now lives in the peaceful woods of Glencoe with her husband Steve and their cat Hector. She enjoys connecting with people through her own projects, shooting weddings with Steve Rankin Photography and working at her parent's business Chafe's Flooring and Furniture. Emily loves farmer's markets so much she once was the chair and organizer of the Port Hawkesbury Area Community Market. For her, a creative weekend by the sea with a tribe of like minded women feels just about as good as it gets!
